PETALING JAYA: Incidents of individuals being vaccinated for Covid-19 with empty syringes are currently under investigation and have no links to the vaccines being sold on the black market, says Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.

       When contacted, the Health Minister said that there was an isolated case currently under investigation and that action had already been taken.

       He clarified that the inoculators involved in the incident at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre had been removed, while police concluded the other case which happened at Bangi Avenue Convention Centre on Sunday (July 18) as the individual involved had received the vaccination.

       "No malicious intent was found but it was due to human error. This was a very isolated case in comparison to the 15 million successful inoculations," he said.

       Dr Adham said stringent standard operating procedures were in place and random medical audits were conducted at vaccination centres (PPV).

       He added that there were also vaccination centre managers from the Health Ministry stationed at the PPV sites to monitor the vaccination process.

       The Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force was investigating two reports of empty syringes being used during the vaccination process, after several videos of the incidents went viral on messaging applications and social media.

       It noted that it would not hesitate to end the services of personnel found to be involved in misconduct.

       Dr Adham recently said that anyone who received a Covid-19 vaccine shot that was proven to be "empty" will be given a proper dose and the Ministry would contact the individuals concerned.
