KUALA LUMPUR: Some 93 per cent of Malayan Banking Bhd's (Maybank) non-clerical employees who have successfully completed the Workplace Enablers (WE) programme have been upgraded to clerical grade and accorded a 10 per cent increment to their base pay.

       Maybank group chief human capital officer Datuk Nora Manaf said the success of the conversion of their corporate title would translate to a higher impact amongst the employees, in line with the group's M25 five-year plan.

       "With the WE in the workforce, we are not just looking to retain our employees but also to upscale the value of their jobs so that they are motivated to deliver stronger experiences and service levels in the workplace of the future, ready and equipped with the required skills to brave changes and challenges,” she said.

       The WE programme was rolled out in January last year, aimed at providing non-clerical employees with new skills to accelerate their career progression and take on greater responsibilities.

       The initiative, which has benefitted over 360 non-clerical employees across Maybank’s Malaysian operations, was an eight-month training programme which focused on experiential learning.

       The initiative also offered employees opportunities to be reassigned to other parts of the bank, as well as adapt to an environment that is undergoing continuous change, particularly in response to digitalisation and the pandemic. - Bernama
