KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman will be focusing on advising road users on the dangers of using micromobility vehicles such as escooters on regular roads, says Comm Datuk Mat Kasim Karim.

       The Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director said police would not take enforcement action against offenders at this early stage.

       "Existing laws have been amended to ban the use of such vehicles on the road.

       "Instead of enforcement straightaway, we are advising escooter users on its dangers," he told reporters during the launch of Ops Selamat at Menara TM on Tuesday (April 26).

       He said the police would work closely with the Road Transport Department in advocacy over the matter.
