KUCHING: The rebranding of Mara Industrial Area to the Mara Halal Industries (MHI) Park at Demak Laut here will breathe new life into entrepreneurship development, says Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Rubiah Wang.

Through the rebranding, she said, Mara or Majlis Amanah Rakyat aimed to provide a more comprehensive ecosystem to assist rural entrepreneurs in improving the quality, distribution and marketing of their products.

"We want to produce competitive entrepreneurs who can market their products widely.

"We want to help them expand their market, not just locally or within Malaysia but at the global level," she told reporters at the ministry's breaking of fast event here on Wednesday (April 3).

Earlier, Rubiah launched the rebranding at the Demak Laut MHI Park.

The park consists of 20 factory lots with a total floor area of 57,000 sq ft.

"This is a facility for Mara to rent out the premises to entrepreneurs who need the space and to help them improve the quality of their products.

"At the same time, we want to help them get halal certification," Rubiah said.

Rubiah also presented Raya contributions to 20 recipients from her constituency.
