KOTA BHARU: Residents in Kelantan need to follow all instructions and guidelines issued by authorities if they are ordered to evacuate from their residences during floods.

       Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob said residents in the state must not take things lightly to avoid unwanted incidents from occurring.

       "When evacuation orders are issued, everyone must take immediate steps to move and if possible, get it done before Maghrib prayers," he posted on his Facebook account on Saturday (Dec 18).

       Ahmad also reminded residents to remain self-disciplined and comply with all standard operating procedures (SOP) set while at relief centres to avoid any possibility of being infected by Covid-19.

       "Every district’s flood operation room is at the ready, with assistance from rescue teams and volunteers, to ensure that the evacuation process and flood aid distribution will be conducted smoothly.

       "I have also ordered all elected representatives, especially those in flood-prone areas, to be prepared where evacuees are concerned and to coordinate their efforts with their respective district disaster operation centre,” he added. - Bernama
