JOHOR BARU: Barisan Nasional candidate Ling Tian Soon is a well-known figure in Yong Peng because he is a leader who is always on the ground to help the people, says MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

       Dr Wee, who is also Ayer Hitam MP, paid a visit to Ling’s election operations centre named “Teratak Ah Soon”, located in one of the housing estates in the district.

       “Fondly known as ‘Ah Soon’, Ling’s team is always busy organising meetings to discuss local issues.

       “There are many pictures placed in Teratak Ah Soon which tell the stories of the lives of regular people.

       “Ah Soon is very popular in Yong Peng because he is always on the ground assisting everyone regardless of their race,” said Dr Wee in a Facebook posting yesterday.

       Ling, 38, who is the political secretary to Dr Wee, is also Johor MCA Youth chief and Ayer Hitam MCA division chief.

       He is contesting the Yong Peng state seat against Perikatan Nasional’s Susan Yong and Pakatan Harapan’s Alan Tee Boon Tsong.

       In the 14th general election, Ling lost the seat to DAP’s Chew Peck Choo. Chew recently announced her retirement from politics to focus on her family.

       MCA will be contesting 15 seats in the Johor election. Polling has been set for March 12.
