Mr Corbyn and Ms Sultana have been mocked on social media (Image: PA)
Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana are already facing widespread mockery after their new hard-left party launch immediately descended into farce over confusion over one crucial detail. The left-wing ex-Labour duo finally launched their new party today, promising “a new kind of political party. One that belongs to you.”
They added: “It's time for a new kind of political party. One that is rooted in our communities, trade unions and social movements. One that builds power in all regions and nations. One that belongs to you." The new movement was launched with the website and branding of “Your Party”, prompting most to assume that was the name of the new organisation. However Ms Sultana has since clarified that “Your Party” is not its name, and will be decided by members at their inaugural conference.

Responding to Reform UK’s Zia Yusuf branding ‘Your Party’ “one of the worst party names ever”, Ms Sultana responded: “Unlike Reform, we’re doing things differently with democracy & inclusivity at the core.
“From the launch to the party, conference, structures & yes - even the name! - we’re building it together. It might feel unfamiliar to you. It’s called democracy.”
Social media immediately began mocking the farcical nameless launch, with Labour MP Mike Reader quipping: “Members will choose the name. I strongly recommend Votey McVote Face.”

Other X users compared the launch to that of Change UK, the breakaway centrist party which formed during the Brexit rows of 2019 without a name.
User Mike W-J suggested the party goes with “Fruit & Nut”, while Tony Dixon argued “Jezbollah would have encapsulated their objectives better.”

Columnist Allison Pearson suggested “Britain Last”, adding “That should make it clear.”
The initial launch of Mr Corbyn and Ms Sultana’s new project was already farcical after Ms Sultana announced she was quitting the Labour Party to join Mr Corbyn, despite the fact he hadn’t yet confirmed plans for a new party.
There was also a reported row about whether Mr Corbyn would accept a co-leadership model, similar to the Green Party, which he rejected.
