A FORMER BBC executive is being sued by bosses at a luxury hotel over an alleged £740,000 unpaid bill.

Jason Blain, 51, spent eight months in the penthouse of London’s Mandarin Oriental after originally booking in for six nights.

Ex-BBC executive Jason Blain is being sued by Mandarin Oriental bosses over an alleged £740,000 unpaid bill

He still owes money for the £4,725-a-day suite, it is claimed, with other charges including £30,110 for valet parking, £55,000 in service charges and £25,497 for room service.

Court papers show Mr Blain’s “chief of staff” hired the suite for six nights in October 2020.

Before leaving in June last year, Mr Blain — a director of 33 companies — emailed the Hyde Park hotel to say: “The bill is of course my debt and this will be reversed at a future point.”

A writ filed at London’s High Court shows he has paid £508,500 of his £1.24million bill but the rest is outstanding.

Mr Blain, once BBC Worldwide’s business development boss, will also face demands for costs and interest.

His defence to the hotel’s claim has yet to be made public.
