EVERY XL Bully owner who has applied to keep their dog has been accepted so far under a new exemption scheme.

Officials have approved 349 permits to allow the vicious mutts to remain on the streets despite fears of further attacks.

They are still processing a further 3,700 £92.40 applications made since the Certificate of Exemption scheme’s launch last month.

To be approved, the dogs must be neutered, microchipped and insured against attacks.

From today it will be illegal to breed, sell, abandon, give away or walk an XL Bully without a muzzle.

It will be a crime to own one without a permit from February 1.

PM Rishi Sunak banned XLs following at least six fatal attacks this year.

Victims included Ian Price, 52, who was mauled to death in September by two XLs in Stonnall, Staffs, as he tried to protect his mum.

The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs has been approached for comment.
