LOS ANGELES, April 18 (Xinhua) -- A butterfly exhibition has resumed in the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles after a suspension for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This exhibition features hundreds of butterflies, colorful native plants, and plenty of natural light to help visitors see these creatures shimmer.

Up to 30 different species of butterflies are on show at the museum, including California natives like the giant swallowtail and buckeye.

"Every visit to the butterfly pavilion is a different experience, meeting different animals and different educators," Leslie Gordon, senior manager of living collections at the museum, told Xinhua in an interview.

"Children can experience up-close and personal interactions with wild lives," she said, adding the exhibition will provide human-animal connection to inspire children's curiosity about natural world, and connect their minds to science.

"Educators can share with visitors basic information like how to identify species and how do butterflies drink, all the way to complex topics like how do butterflies fill in the picture of the wild world," Gordon said.

The exhibition runs from March 20 to Sept. 5.
