Sir Sadiq Khan has lashed out at Rachel Reeves after the Chancellor gave the green light for a third runway at Heathrow Airport this morning.
The Heathrow scheme is thought to cost ￡14billion, and could take 10 to 15 years to complete. Ms Reeves claimed that the project could increase GDP by 0.43% by 2050.

Officials will aim for proposals to be brought forward by the summer. Previously laid out legal, environmental and climate pledges will be met, the Chancellor said.
Ms Reeves added that a decision on increasing operations at Gatwick and Luton airports will be made "shortly" by the transport secretary.

But the Mayor of London has hit out at the plans today.
He said: “I remain opposed to a new runway at Heathrow airport because of the severe impact it will have on noise, air pollution and meeting our climate change targets.
“I will scrutinise carefully any new proposals that now come forward from Heathrow, including the impact it will have on people living in the area and the huge knock-on effects for our transport infrastructure."
He added that he was "not convinced" that it won't make a hugely negative impact on the environment.
Sir Khan added: “Despite the progress that's been made in the aviation sector to make it more sustainable, I’m simply not convinced that you can have hundreds of thousands of additional flights at Heathrow every year without a hugely damaging impact on our environment.”

Alex Wilson, Refrom UK's London Assembly Member, told Express.co.uk: "The news Heathrow has government approval for a third runway is extremely welcome. Sadiq Khan will be having nightmares.
"This means he won’t be able to meet his ludicrous Net Zero targets. Back in the real world, it will create up to 100,000 jobs. It will grow the economy and it will help keep the UK as a major global player.
"More jobs, more money, and less Net Zero. Superb news!"
Also announced by Ms Reeves was a measure meaning water companies can now spend ￡7.9billion to build new reservoirs.

The Chancellor also intends to create Europe's Silicon Valley between Oxford and Cambridge. This will comprise of improved infrastructure so that the area is at the forefront of science and technological advances, and is expected to generate ￡78 billion by 2035.
In addition, Manchester United has been given the go ahead for the redevelopment of its football stadium, Old Trafford. This will include more housing.
This is thought to cost between ￡1billion and ￡1.2billion.
