PETALING JAYA: Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has extended his condolences to the family of Tan Sri Ali Hamsa.
The former chief secretary to the government passed away on Thursday (April 21).
"I just received the sad news of the passing of former chief secretary to the government Tan Sri Ali Hamsa. My condolences to his family," said Dr Wee in a Facebook post on Thursday.
Dr Wee added that Ali's passing is a great loss to the nation and community.
"He was a prominent figure who contributed and served the nation, particularly in the various ministries after joining the administrative and diplomatic service under the Trade and Industry Ministry in 1981," Dr Wee said.
He said that Ali was a true son of Johor and that his service and sacrifices for the nation will always be remembered.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali had confirmed in a statement that Ali had passed away at the Dublin Hospital in Ireland on Thursday.
Ali served as chief secretary to the government from June 24, 2012 to Aug 28, 2018.
He leaves behind wife Puan Sri Rohani Abdullah and four children.
