PETALING JAYA: A treaty signed between Malaysia and Thailand will enable the extradition of controversial cosmetic entrepreneur Nur Sajat.

Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan, in a statement on Thursday (Sept 23), said that the treaty allowed the extradition of wanted people.

"The application (to extradite) will be made in the near future," he said.

Nur Sajat was detained by Thai Immigration for having an invalid passport at about 6pm on Sept 8.

The cosmetic entrepreneur was then fined and is believed to be seeking refuge under the UNCHR.

Nur Sajat is currently wanted for multiple offences in Malaysia, including criminal intimidation and preventing civil servants from performing their duties.

On Tuesday (Sept 21), the CID director told the media that he advised Nur Sajat to come back to Malaysia willingly to face the charges in court.

He added then that the police, along with the Foreign Ministry, will also work towards extraditing the cosmetic entrepreneur.
