GEORGE TOWN: Business has been slow for hair salons here with only regular customers coming in for a trim although they have been operating since Penang entered Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan.

Salon manager Wong Pike Kuan said they were well-prepared and careful in receiving customers due to the high number of cases recorded in the state daily.

“Many are still not confident to come out for a haircut. Only our regular customers will drop by but not all of them come that often.

“They only visit for a haircut or trim every four to six weeks, so we do not see many customers daily,” she said when met yesterday.

Wong, 55, said at her salon, they ensured a high level of hygiene.

“This is important especially since the number of cases are still high.

“We need to protect our customers and ourselves, so we encourage regulars to call up for an appointment first.

At another hairdressing salon and academy, technical instructor Jezz Tan, 36, said all six of its hairstylists were properly trained in adhering to the standard operating procedure.

“All of us have received both jabs and we display our vaccination information at the counter,” Tan said.
