A BRIT tourist is fighting for her life after suffering a horror ski accident while on holiday in Bulgaria.

Olivia Corbiere, 23, was put in an induced coma after plunging 15ft from a ski path into a huge ravine in the southwestern town of Bansko.

The young Brit had just celebrated her birthday last Tuesday and flew out to the resort of Chalin Valog with her pals and her sister Phoebe, 19, on Friday.

Olivia - a kitchen designer and an experienced skier - was rushed to Bulgaria's capital Sofia on Sunday afternoon after her terrified pals pulled her from the water.

Doctors placed her in an induced coma after she suffered horrific injuries including a broken pelvis, three fractured vertebra, broken eye socket and a broken nose.

She reportedly underwent a four hour emergency surgery where doctors removed part of her skull to stop the bleeding on her brain.

Olivia's mother Linzi, 46, flew out on Monday morning from Aston, near Rotherham, South Yorkshire, after learning the horror news.

The heartbroken mum said surgeons told her they had "never seen" a head injury like this.

Linzi, a train dispatcher for East Midlands Railway, said: "Olivia has just come out of surgery and the surgeon says they've never seen a head injury like it.

"The next few hours are critical and they're going to wake her up tomorrow.

"They're very strict in Bulgaria and we're not able to sit by the bed or visit.

"But they did allow me to and see her yesterday and I was able to speak to her and tell her we're here for her.

"Her eyelashes flickered, so I know she heard me."

Linzi is currently staying at a nearby hotel and using translators provided by the ski resort.

She added: "She's not paralysed, they've assured us of that, because she was moving her limbs too much.

"That's why they had to put her in an induced coma. We've just got to wait and see if they'll let me be there when they wake her up tomorrow.

"I flew out yesterday morning and my husband flew out last night.

"The girls have been great, they've been shopping for us and made sure we had things we needed.

"We just flung a few things in a suitcase and flew out, we didn't really know what to pack.

"I'm just sitting in a hotel, I need a translator to help me and we need to translate all the medical records into English for the insurance company."

Olivia's father Seb, 51, flew out last night to be with his family while his eldest daughter heals, and their son Morgan, 22, should also be on his way to Bulgaria.

A fundraising campaign has been created to assist Linzi and her family with travel, lodging, and other expenses.

More than £13,000 has been contributed since the plea was launched on Monday, but more is required to help Olivia recover.
