KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia started on a weak note again on Wednesday with FBM KLCI stocks KL Kepong and Petronas Chemicals among the biggest decliners.
At 9.17am, the FBM KLCI was down 3.21 points or 0.21% to 1, 528.42. Turnover was 538.28 million shares valued at RM55.17mil. There were 162 gainers, 290 losers and 287 counters unchanged.
Bloomberg reported most Asian stocks fell Wednesday after US shares snapped a winning streak and Treasury yields retreated on concerns about the economic outlook and risks from Covid-19 variants.
Equities fell in Japan and South Korea but rose in Australia. U.S. contracts declined after the S&P 500 dipped from a record, led by the energy and financial sectors.
Oil pared losses after falling toward US$73 a barrel. The dollar’s climb spurred a commodities selloff, and uncertainty shrouds the next move in the Opec+ saga.
At Bursa, among the KLCI stocks, KLK fell 10 sen to RM20.10, PChem eight sen to RM8.01, Press Metal seven sen to RM5.02, Top Glove four sen to RM3.90 and IOI Corp three sen to RM3.74.
However, HLFG gained 12 sen to RM18.02, HLBank eight sen to RM18.80, Hartalega four sen to RM7.10 and Sime Plantation two sen to RM3.97
Serba Dinamik fell one sen to 50 sen with 41.41 million shares done and its warrant was down 0.5 sen to 11 sen.
The top decliners were CFM, slumping 58 sen to RM3.79, TOcean 15 sen to RM4.03, Boxpak 14 sen to RM1.24, Widetec also lost 14 sen to RM3.58 and Petron 10 sen to RM4.25.
However, Genetec continued its winning streak, 66 sen to RM16.08, MPI 44 sen to RM39.46, AeonCredit 42 sen to RM12.20 and Hoover 18 sen to RM1.18.
