JOHOR BARU: The former managing director of an information technology company has been detained for allegedly making false claims amounting to almost RM8mil.
According to a source, the 59-year-old man was arrested at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office here at around 11am on Monday (April 11) after having his statement recorded to assist with an ongoing investigation.
It is learnt that while in his previous position, the suspect had allegedly made claims to another company for work involving IT component replacements in 2016.
When contacted, Johor MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed the arrest and said the case was being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
It is learnt that the suspect was later released on MACC bail.
