A man was fatally shot early Thursday in Greenbelt, Md.

       The man was not immediately identified, pending the notification of his family.

       The shooting happened just after midnight in the 5800 block of Cherrywood Terrace, about a mile from Beltway Plaza Mall. Police said they got a call about shots fired and that when officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

       The shooting remains under investigation.
