RESIDENTS of Taman Bandar Baru in Sungai Lalang, Kedah, protested peacefully following three years of daily water supply disruptions, according to Malaysia Nanban.

Navarajan Nakuran, who spoke on behalf of the residents, said about 3,000 families are affected, and that they are often forced to stay awake at night to store water.

Flower seller K. Manonmani, 60, said their woes are getting worse due to the hot season.

       M. Vani, 47, said her family has resorted to sending clothes to the laundrette, and some families have given up cooking at home.

       > Women in India are doing 10 times more housework than men, and they even start at the young age of six, a new study has shown, reported Makkal Osai.

The International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS) under the Health and Family Welfare Ministry and the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) published these findings.
