PETALING JAYA: Gymnasiums have finally been allowed to resume operations, according to Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Faizal Azumu.
“Please follow the SOPs and especially the ventilation guidelines. Enjoy healthy living!” he said in a tweet last night.
The tweet was accompanied by a picture of the SOPs that have been gazetted by the National Security Council.
According to the SOPs, indoor sports are only open to those who are fully vaccinated.
The facilities are allowed to open from 6am to 10am, with capacity restricted to 50%.
Besides that, a maximum of 60% of the workforce can be present at the premises, limited to management and operations.
As of yesterday, gyms and fitness centres in Malaysia had been closed for a total of 165 days this year (from May to September). In 2020, gyms were closed for 239 days.
