LAKE HAVASU CITY, Arizona (Kyodo) -- Tokyo Olympic medalists Momiji Nishiya and Funa Nakayama of Japan made the podium on stop two of the Street League Skateboarding Championship Tour in Lake Havasu, Arizona on Saturday.
They finished behind Rayssa Leal, a silver medalist in Tokyo, who was crowned champion with 19.2 points in the eight-skater women's final at Tinnell Memorial Sports Complex. The 13-year-old Brazilian made it back-to-back victories after her win in the Salt Lake City stage in August.
Nishiya, who turned 14 shortly after she became the first Olympic champion in women's skateboarding this summer, settled for second place on a score of 18.5. Nakayama, the Tokyo Games bronze winner, completed the podium with a 16.1 score.
"I'm glad I landed my last trick. I knew I could do it if I stayed calm," Nishiya said of her third trick that got the highest score of the day.
"I was able to execute a lot more tricks than I did at yesterday's qualification so that was good. I always expect to finish last in competitions so I'm very happy with a third-place finish," Nakayama, 16, said.
In the men's final that featured no Japanese skaters, American Nyjah Huston, who led qualification with a score of 25.9, triumphed with a score of 27.3.
The tour will finish with the SLS Super Crown World Championship, taking place on Nov. 13-14 in Jacksonville, Florida.
