GEORGE TOWN: A family of five was evacuated after their home was inundated by floodwaters here in Kampung Din Bamboo near Masjid Batu Ferringhi Tuesday (June 29) morning.
The family of three women and two children were evacuated to a neighbour’s house at around 10am.
Bagan Jermal Fire and Rescue Department operations officer Safry Romli, who assisted in rescue operations at Kampung Din Bamboo, said the floods occurred due to an overflow from the nearby river.
“The overflow caused water to inundate the houses up to a depth of 1m.
“We have since moved five of the flood victims to a safe location.
“Surveillance was conducted on-site and we found that the water had subsided at about noon.
“Rescue operations, meanwhile, ended at 11.01am,” he said.
