SERDANG: Four men and a woman have been arrested by police following a heated argument between several people which ended up with a car being set on fire.
The incident occurred just metres away from the Serdang police headquarters.
Serdang OCPD Asst Comm A. A. Anbalagan said the police were alerted to a ruckus which had happened along Jalan BK5, Bandar Kinrara at around 4pm on Wednesday (Sept 29).
“We received information that one of the suspects had used a stone to break the windows of a Proton Waja car which was parked along the road shoulder there.
“The suspect was enraged and was shouting and provoking other people,” he said in a statement on Thursday. He added four videos of the incident were also uploaded on Facebook.
“We arrested two men and a woman following the incident to assist with investigations,” he said, adding that the police received information at around 8.40pm that the car was set on fire.
He also said police also picked up another suspect, aged 42, who admitted to have set the car on fire.
ACP Anbalagan investigations revealed that the fracas was allegedly sparked by a disagreement on Facebook between both parties.
“Police have also opened criminal intimidation investigations into the owner of the burnt car.
“We have remanded all the suspects to assist with investigations,” he said.
He called on the public to refrain from getting involved in unlawful behaviour that could threaten public order.
