Motorcyclist killed, four-year-old son injured in crash

       IPOH: A 48-year-old man died while his four-year-old son sustained injuries in an accident at KM50 of the Ipoh-Kuala Lumpur road near Tapah.

       Tapah OCPD Supt Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said in the 4pm incident on Sunday (Feb 6) the deceased, Annuar Zakariah from Kg Batu Masjid in Temoh, who was riding a motorcycle died on the spot after a car collided with his bike.

       Annuar’s son broke his right leg, while the 18-year-old driver of the car escaped unhurt.

       Supt Wan Azharuddin said initial investigation revealed that the accident happened when the car driver, heading towards the direction of Kuala Lumpur, lost control of his vehicle and entered into the opposite lane hitting the motorcycle.

       “The deceased sustained severe injuries and died at the site, while his son was rushed to the Tapah hospital for treatment.

       “The body has been sent to the hospital, and a post-mortem is expected to be carried out on Monday (Feb 7).

       He said the car driver from Kampung Sri Azam in Tapah has been arrested where a urine test will be carried out, together with other investigations.

       The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
