TOKYO -- To celebrate the 25th anniversary of its entry to the Japanese market, Starbucks Coffee Japan Ltd. will release special, exclusive local versions of its Frappuccinos in all 47 prefectures from June 30.

The 47 Jimoto Frappuccino lineup of flavors paying tribute to local specialties includes creamed corn in northernmost Hokkaido, sweet bean paste coffee in central Aichi Prefecture, and chinsuko biscuit vanilla caramel in southernmost Okinawa Prefecture. All the flavor variants are created by local employees.

Headquartered in Tokyo's Shinagawa Ward, Starbucks Japan has as of March 1,637 outlets in all 47 prefectures. Its employees reportedly came up with the campaign idea as a way to convey their gratitude to local customers.

While the drinks will be available until Aug. 3, the campaign may end sooner if stocks deplete first. A "tall" cup of Frappuccino costs 669 yen (about $6) to go and 682 yen (about $6.20) to drink in store.

The local flavors can be browsed on the official website at: https://www.starbucks.co.jp/cafe/jimoto_frappuccino/ (in Japanese).
