MELAKA: A student's alleged attempt to try out a sexual service offered online became an expensive affair when he ended up RM10,000 poorer after being fleeced to pay a deposit as "body insurance".

Melaka Commercial Crime deputy chief Deputy Supt Azmi Aziz the 19-year-old student of a private college had browsed Twitter on March 12 when he saw a tweet on sexual service offered by a flesh trade syndicate.

"The student clicked the link and was directed to a Telegram account where the payment instruction was described.

"The syndicate offered the sexual service at RM300 for a two-hour session when the student agreed to engage the service," he said on Monday (March 14).

DSP Azmi said the student was asked to meet the prostitute outside a convenience store at 1pm on the same day.

However, he said no one turned up and the student received a call from the syndicate to deposit RM10,000 as collateral to ensure the prostitute doesn't sustain any injury during the two-hour session.

DSP Azmi said the student used his savings and transferred the deposit to a bank account that was provided by the syndicate.

He said the student waited for some time at the same spot for hours but no one had turned up despite banking in the deposit for "body insurance".

DSP Azmi said the student felt he was conned and decided to lodge a report at Bukit Baru police station on the next day.

"Police have opened an investigation paper under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating," he added.
