SPAIN is set to be yet again battered by heavy rain, just days after torrential downpours flooded popular Brit holiday hotspots.

       And a storm warning has been issued for another Brit holiday location, as bad weather continues to move through the Mediterranean.

       Residents in Madrid were sent emergency alerts to their phones ordering them to stay indoors today.

       A rare red warning has been issued for Madrid by AEMET, as up to 4 inches of rain could fall in just 12 hours - which could lead to floods.

       The sudden change from tropical summer weather into cooler, rainy days is common this time of year in Spain.

       It's referred to as "Gota Fría", or "Cold Drop", and happens in the late summertime, mainly in September.

       Flooding, beaches closing and other bad weather usually mark the beginning of autumn in Majorca.

       But another holiday destination is set to see high winds and rain in the coming days.

       All of Greece will see heavy rain, winds and hail as temperatures drop in the normally balmy destination.

       From Monday to Wednesday, all of the Balkan country will see high levels of lightning storms as well.

       In Athens, the temperature is set to drop six degrees Celsius in the coming days as rain moves through, according to EMY.

       Yesterday, Brit tourists in Spain faced orange-level storms bringing deluges and more than 60mph winds for the second weekend in a row.

       From Barcelona to Valencia, orange level storm warnings were issued on the country's eastern Mediterranean coast - and the Balearic islands of Majorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera are also in the firing line.

       Only days ago, storm Dana brought rain, strong winds and hail across much of Majorca.
