PASIR MAS: The Water and Environment Ministry has submitted a proposal to implement Phase 2 of the RM1.2bil flood-mitigation project in the districts of Pasir Mas and Tumpat in Kelantan.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the project was expected to solve the flood problems in the two areas as well as in Rantau Panjang.
"The Phase 2 project is a continuation from Phase 1 and involving a cost of RM600mil. It (Phase 2) is being studied towards obtaining the budget. If the budget is approved, the flood problem in the three areas will be solved."
He said this at a news conference after being briefed on the flood situation in the district of Pasir Mas and handing out contributions to the flood victims housed at the flood relief centre in SK Gelang Mas, here, Wednesday (March 2).
Also present were Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob, Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa, Rural Development Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid and Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim. - Bernama
