IPOH: The people are to continue taking preventive measures to protect themselves from Covid-19, says Perak’s Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.
He said as the country will begin transitioning into the endemic phase on April 1, the people should continue to cooperate with the government's efforts to minimise infection and to protect the country from a new wave.
"The relaxation of movement will allow the people to move freely and be able to have more activities.
"I do hope the people can lead a normal and joyful life, the economy rejuvenate and prosperity of the country is restored," he said in a statement after chairing the Dewan Negara Perak (the Advisory Council to the Ruler) at Istana Iskandariah in Kuala Kangsar on Tuesday (March 15).
"However, the relaxation of movement does not mean the threat of the pandemic is over.
"Preventive steps as advised by the National Security Council and Health Ministry must always be followed," he added.
Sultan Nazrin also said as the Ramadan month is around the corner, all Orang Besar Negeri, especially the Orang Besar Jajahan, need to play an active role in helping to monitor activities that take place in mosques, while providing advice and guidance to minimise the risk of infection.
"I will be getting the views and advice from the relevant authorities before setting a guideline and advice to the Islamic institutions, mosques and surau," he said.
On Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Sultan Nazrin said he hopes that the people can once again celebrate the festivities in a lively and cheerful atmosphere.
"For two years, Muslims did not get the chance to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri with their family members and relatives.
"It is my hope and wish that the joy of celebrating the festivities in a lively and cheerful atmosphere can return," he said.
"For that, the people, especially the Muslims, need to be careful," he added.
