JOHOR BARU: The number of flood evacuees in Johor remains at 2,298 victims from 660 families at 35 temporary flood relief centres (PPS) as of 8am on Tuesday (Jan 11).

State Health and Environment committee chairman R. Vidyananthan said that Segamat remains the district with the highest number of evacuees with 734 people from 199 families seeking shelter at 15 PPS.

“There are still 873 people from 253 families at the 10 PPS in Muar, 610 people from 190 families at the nine PPS in Tangkak and 81 people from 18 families from the one remaining PPS in Batu Pahat,” he said in a statement here on Tuesday (Jan 11).

He said one river, Sungai Muar (Bukit Kepong) in Muar, is still recording a dangerous level at 4.23m but is seeing a downward trend.

Vidyananthan also noted that Jalan Pogoh (Kampung Limau Manis and Kampung Paya Besar) in Segamat from KM6.5 to KM6.7, is only accessible to heavy vehicles.

“Jalan Pogoh (Felcra Pogoh) in Segamat from KM14.4 to KM16.4, is closed for all vehicles while Jalan Felda Bukit Aping (Jalan Kemuning 1) in Kota Tinggi is also closed for all vehicles due to a landslide in the area.

“Two roads in Muar, Jalan Tekam-Pogoh from KM1.0 to KM2.0 and Jalan Muar-Labis (before Sungai Tui bridge) from KM59.5 to KM61.3km, are closed for all vehicles,” he said.

Meanwhile, Jalan Lingkaran Barat in Kluang at KM1.1 is only accessible for light vehicles as there is a landslide along KM1.1.

He added that no rain has been reported in all 10 districts between 1am and 8am on Tuesday (Jan 11).
