The 20-year-old, from Dundee, was arrested by police investigating the disappearance of the girls, aged 15 and 16.
They went missing from their homes in London and Kent for almost a week but were found safe and well in Dundee.
In a statement, the Met Police confirmed both are “safe and well” and are “being supported by specialist officers”.
A second man, Jawwad Akram, of Edgware, London, appeared in custody at Willesden Magistrates’ Court facing modern slavery and child abduction allegations on Thursday.
He denied both charges and was held in custody pending a second dock appearance.
Carneala is due in Harrow crown court next month.
