The Foreign Office has warned holidaymakers who are hoping to relax at the beach to be careful with the fun spot having many hide dangers. Not only that, but there are three warning signs that travellers need to be aware of with each flag at the beach meaning different things.
Under the 'outdoor activities and adventure tourism'' section on their 'safety and security' page, the gov.uk officials are warning that every year, people die in the sea and in swimming pools in Portugal due to drowning. Because of this, they have issued a stark warning.

They caution: "Take care when walking close to the water’s edge, especially along unsupervised stretches of beaches. Waves can be unpredictable and have a strong undertow." They also warn against:

Additionally, people are advised to be vigilant of rip rides as they can lead to drowning. If caught in a rip current, you should not attempt to swim against it. Instead, experts advise swimmers to move parallel to the shoreline until you no longer feel the current's pull. When this happens, you should then swim back to shore.
