PETALING JAYA: The "Datin" who was mentioned in a viral audio clip has been identified as an officer to a former foreign affairs minister, says Wisma Putra.
It did not state any names but said its internal investigation task force had identified the individuals in the audio clip criticising the ministry, which has been spread on social media.
"An individual was called to assist investigations who admitted it was his voice was and that the message was addressed to a 'Datin', an officer to a former foreign affairs minister before the Pakatan Harapan and Perikatan Nasional administrations.
In a statement on Friday (April 15) afternoon, Wisma Putra also said it would hand over its findings to the police since a police report was made on April 11.
"As it involves an individual not from Wisma Putra, the internal investigation report will be handed to the police for further investigation and action," read the statement from the foreign ministry on (April 15).
In the audio clip, an unidentified man is heard describing the "dire state of affairs" in Wisma Putra to another unidentified individual whom he addresses as "Datin".
The foreign affairs ministry has recently come under fire for the fiasco involving the recall of a Malaysian ambassador to the United Arab Emirates and the consul-general in Dubai.
Wisma Putra had said the two Malaysian diplomats were ordered to return from the UAE as they failed to coordinate administrative and logistics issues during the Prime Minister's recent visit to Dubai.
