KOTA KINABALU: A man was killed following an accident along the Sook-Nabawan road at about 10.30am, Sunday (Dec 19).

       The victim, Wahab Marjuki, 61, had been burnt to death after colliding with a four-wheel-drive vehicle which which caused his vehicle to catch fire.

       It is learnt that he was trapped inside and did not have time to escape due before his vehicle was fully engulfed in flames.

       Sabah Fire and Rescue Department operations division director Misran Bisara said they received a call about the accident at 10.31am and a team was immediately sent out to respond.

       "The fire was already put out by passers-by when firemen arrived," he said in a statement.

       He said the charred remains of the victim was discovered inside the car.

       The driver of the four-wheel-drive who escaped with minor injuries had been sent to the hospital by other road users following the collision, Misran said.

       He said the deceased victim’s body was handed over to the police for further action.

       Rescue operations at the scene ended at 11.29am.
