FBM KLCI uptrend continues for the fourth consecutive day

       KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI continued its uptrend for the fourth straight session on continuous buying momentum.

       The 30-stock index advanced 8.09 points, or 0.54% to 1,495.70, its highest since late January 2023. The index hit an intraday high of 1,498.52 and a low of 1,488.60.

       All indices on Bursa Malaysia, apart from property and telecommunications and media, ended higher.

       There were 628 gainers against 470 decliners while 428 counters were unchanged. About 6.96 billion shares, valued at RM4.21bil, changed hands.

       Among the FBM KLCI component stocks, Kuala Lumpur Kepong jumped 30 sen to RM22.30, YTL Power rose 22 sen to RM3.44, Nestle added 20 sen to RM118 and Genting closed up 18 sen to RM4.90.

       Key losers on the FBM KLCI were Petronas Dagangan, which lost eight sen to RM21.04, followed by Hong Leong Financial Group, which fell four sen to RM16.42 and MISC which slid three sen to RM7.37.

       On the broader market, Lysaght Galvanized rose 30 sen to RM2.59, Ajinomoto added 28 sen to RM16.18, Rapid tumbled RM1.10 to RM24.82 and Malaysian Pacific Industries fell 58 sen to RM27.94.

       Elsewhere in the region, Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose 0.27%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index closed down 1.88%, South Korea’s Kospi declined 0.4%, China’s composite index lost 1.42% and Singapore’s Straits Times Index climbed 0.09%.
