PETALING JAYA: Those who have just recovered from Covid-19 may now get their vaccine booster dose immediately.

Previously, newly-recovered patients, who were fully vaccinated earlier, had their booster dose appointments postponed for three months to ensure that they received optimum protection from the jab.

Yesterday, ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd CEO Anas Alam Faizli said patients were now allowed to take their booster shot immediately after recovery and upon consultation with the vaccinating doctor.

“Please get your booster dose vaccination urgently,” he said yesterday. He said there were about 7.5 million adults in Malaysia yet to get their booster shots.

In a letter dated March 16, it was noted that there had been an increase in requests for booster dose vaccinations in view of the latest Covid-19 situation.

The letter, from the office of the deputy Health director-general (public health) and signed by Datuk Dr Chong Chee Keong, stated that to ease and expedite the administration of booster doses, individuals with breakthrough infections would now be allowed to get the jabs once they recovered and consulted with the vaccinating doctor.

Cases of Covid-19 being contracted after full vaccination are referred to as breakthrough infections.

Starting today, the public may fix their booster dose appointments, including choosing the date, time and venue, through MySejahtera.
