       KUWAIT CITY, Aug 30: The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said the ministry over the next few days will begin installing smart meters in all areas beginning with Salmiya, reports Al- Qabas daily. The ministry said power consumers will have to pay the bills in advance as per the mechanism on which the smart meters are operated. The launch of this project, according to informed sources will be a qualitative leap in the level of services provided by the ministry.

       The sources added, the prepayment mechanism is consistent with the Ministry’s main objective of the project — to collect bills on time and prevent the accumulation of consumer bills and the need for the Ministry to take new measures to ensure serious collection. The sources stated payment can be done through several methods — through the ministry’s website, and through the customer service No. 153, the ministry’s application in addition to the airport office, which has been working 24 hours a day for some time
