KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 18,964,474 individuals or 81% of the adult population in the country have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
Based on the Health Ministry’s data on CovidNow, 93.3% or 21,847,551 individuals from the adult population have received at least one dose of the vaccine as of Wednesday.
A total of 321,342 doses of the vaccine were dispensed on Wednesday, with 30,860 administered as the first dose and 197,994 doses given as a second dose, bringing the number of doses dispensed under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme to 41,247,271.
A total of 487 deaths due to Covid-19 were reported on Wednesday, up from 334 deaths reported the previous day, bringing the total death due to Covid-19 in the country to 24,565 people.
Of the 487 deaths reported on Wednesday, only seven cases were the actual deaths reported for the day, while the rest were reported late. Of the total deaths reported, 161 were brought-in-dead cases.
Of the 487 fatalities, 178 were recorded in Selangor; Sabah (87); Johor (63); Kuala Lumpur (44); Penang (36); Kelantan (26); Perak (18); Kedah (14); five each in Melaka, Negri Sembilan and Pahang; Terengganu (three); Perlis (two) and Sarawak (one). — Bernama
