Boris Johnson has refused to be drawn into the row over whether only women have a cervix when put on the spot during an interview with GB News. The Prime Minister's response in which he stressed "everybody needs to be treated with dignity and respect" did not go down well with former Trade Unionist and GB panellist Paul Embery who took to social media to vent his anger over what he described as "woke fundamentalism."
Mr McCaffrey asked the Prime Minister: "Keir Starmer last week said it is not right to say that only women have a cervix do you agree?"
Mr Johnson replied: "What I think about this is biology is very important.
"But we have a system now in our country for many many years in which people can change gender.
"We help them to do that and what I absolutely passionately believe, and I fought for this for a long time, is everybody should be treated with dignity and respect."
GB New contributor Paul Embery blasted the response of the Prime Minister.
He tweeted: "When pressed here, Johnson refuses to state that only women have a cervix.
"Some would have us believe that the Tories can be trusted to tackle woke fundamentalism. They can’t.
"Most have bought into it. Those that haven’t are too scared to speak up."
It comes as Carrie Johnson has said her husband is "completely committed" to protecting the gains of the LGBT+ community and extending them further.
The wife of Boris Johnson told a pride event on the fringes of the Tory conference in Manchester: "Whether you are LGBT+ or an ally like me we are all committed to equality and acceptance for everyone, whoever you are and whoever you love.
"There are still those who tell me that being LGBT+ and a Tory is somehow incompatible, well, looking around me tonight, we can see that is blatantly untrue.
"Many of you here tonight have helped play a part in the journey our party has taken on gay rights and we can now say with huge pride that it was a Conservative prime minister who delivered equal marriage in England and Wales."
