BATANG KALI: The Selangor government will wait for a report on the soil condition of the Taman Mega Jaya landslide site before deciding on its next course of action, says Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
"We are expecting the report by Ikram and the Mineral and Geoscience Department (JMG) in about three days. Our focus now is to determine if the site is safe or not. The priority is residents’ evacuation to ensure lives are saved," he said.
"The report will determine whether further action is needed, before we look into measures such as clean-up and soil strengthening. The authorities view this area as risky, which is why they are urging affected residents to move out," added Amirudin.
To residents who refuse to move, he advised them to be careful and that they would have to bear any potential risks should anything untoward happen.
"The RM10,000 aid to be given to families of the four deceased landslide victims would be given within a week," said Amirudin.
"We will only look at other forms of support for the other victims after the report is issued."
Amirudin said this after launching the Ion Belian Garden Sales Gallery in Batang Kali. Ion Belian Garden is a white knight development project by NCT Platinum Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of NCT Group of Companies.
