The Prince of Wales is said to have been "infuriated" by references to Princess Consort on Clarence House's website, which were removed in 2018. Charles will reportedly "insist" on the Duchess of Cornwall having the title of Queen Consort when he is King.

       A former courtier told the Telegraph: "He will 100 percent insist on her being Queen.

       "The references to Princess Consort infuriated the Prince."

       Since they tied the knot in 2005, Clarence House has maintained that Camilla will be known as Princess Consort when Charles is King.

       The decision was made due to upset over the breakdown of Charles's marriage to Princess Diana and her death in 1997.

       However, speculation has been high over the years that Camilla could become Queen Consort.

       When Princess Consort references were removed from the Frequently Asked Questions section of Charles's website three years ago, Clarence House said the questions were regularly updated and that one had not been asked by the public recently.

       Royal expert Penny Junor, who penned The Duchess: The Untold Story, said Charles will want Camilla to be Queen Consort when he ascends to the throne.

       Speaking in May, the royal author told Express.co.uk: "My guess is yes.

       "I know that Clarence House keep saying no there are no plans for that at all.

       "I think he is very proud of her, he's very grateful to her and she's done a remarkable job as his wife.

       "And I think really to call her Princess Consort would just be at odds with everything.

       "There hasn't been a Princess Consort before. If she's his wife, she's his Queen Consort."

       Ms Junor added that Camilla is a "very good thing" for heir to the throne Charles.

       She said: "I think she has given him confidence that he has never had really before.

       "And she's someone who is really interested in him and who really loves him in a way that I don't think he feels he was loved by anyone else before, with the possible exception of his grandmother.

       "So it is a very genuine relationship."

       Charles and Camilla's romance has spanned decades after they first dated in the early 1970s.

       Camilla went on to marry Andrew Parker Bowles in 1973, while Charles wed Diana in 1981, but both marriages ended in divorce.

       Charles and Camilla finally tied the knot in 2005 and celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary earlier this year.
