A HOMEOWNER forked out ￡45,000 on a breathtaking oriental garden hidden behind his three-bedroom house.
James Ng, 57, began his garden project last September after buying the terraced Victorian home in South East London in 2008.

A garden extension put in place in 2017 saw him push his passion project even further, creating an oriental paradise which he finally finished during lockdown in March.
The outdoor space has now been transformed into a blissful paradise bustling with flowers, among which a summer house - built for his partner, Jon, 77 - is nestled.
James, a semi-retired interior designer and property developer, said: “This was a project I had wanted to do for a while with my savings.
"Looking at the garden now, I am amazingly happy with the results.
"As I am more or less retired now, I wanted to have something special and unique to enjoy with my partner in this new chapter of my life.”
James - who immigrated from Malaysia in 1990 - said his furniture comes from many countries in South East Asia, including Thailand and China.

He added: “Japanese architecture and other oriental design have always been something I have enjoyed.
“Throughout my travels, I have taken so much inspiration from places I have been, and the final project was just incredible to see come together.”
Sourcing the proper experts to take on the project proved a timely task, James revealed, with specialist builders in short supply in the capital.
He added: “Oriental gardens are very hard to find in London as it is, so finding the builders to construct the garden was a gruelling process.
“It was important to find people who understood the architecture and design as it is not like constructing a typical British garden.”
The design lover's project has been a big hit with the neighbours, as well as with James' partner Jon.
James said: "They love it so much. We often get knocks on the door asking to visit and stop for a drink outside.
“We are just so happy having a place like this beautiful oriental garden for relaxation and peace of mind for the rest of our lives."
