PETALING JAYA: One new Covid-19 case has been detected at a flood evacuation centre on Sunday (Dec 26), says Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The Health director-general said the number of Covid-19 cases detected among flood victims now stood at 418 cases.
He added that 193 infectious diseases had also been identified among victims with 94 acute respiratory infections, 67 cases of skin diseases and 30 cases of acute gastroenteritis.
Others include one case of Hand, Foot and Mouth disease, as well as one case of conjunctivitis.
Dr Noor Hisham reminded flood victims who have tested positive for Covid-19, or have been identified as a close contact to report their risk status to rescue personnel.
“Always adhere to the standard operating procedures at flood relief centres and avoid gathering with other victims,” he said, adding that flood victims should maintain a high level of personal hygiene and avoid playing in floodwaters.
Dr Noor Hisham also urged those categorised as close contact or positive for Covid-19 to practise discipline in undergoing quarantine.
On current Covid-19 statistics, he said all states recorded an infectivity rate of below 1.0 except for Terengganu, which stood at 1.0. The national rate is currently at 0.88.
On Sunday, the country recorded 2,778 new Covid-19 cases, with 3,539 recoveries.
Of the new infections, 60 cases were in Categories 3, 4 and 5.
