MALAYSIAN singer Gin Lee, who recently collaborated with Jacky Cheung in one of her new songs, said that she was not bold enough to ask him out for a “thank you” meal, Sin Chew Daily reported.

“We’ve exchanged a few text messages. I’m very happy and honoured to have worked with him. If the song performs better, I will muster the courage to ask him out for a meal,” she said.

Cheung, who is a huge name in show business, is known as the “God of Songs”.

Lee, 34, released the Cantonese tune Let Street Lamps Go to Sleep When the Sun Rises on Aug 4 featuring Cheung as a second singer.

The music video, which was released on Aug 31, has since racked up 1.2 million views.

According to Lee, it is a story about a person taking a break from the pursuit of his goal to reflect on the beautiful things around him that he had missed along the way.

After the release of the new music video, Lee said she bought cat treats for her pet as a gesture of appreciation for enduring hours and hours of her practising the song at home.

Asked if she would be collaborating with the 60-year-old Cheung again, she replied: “I really want to, but I’ll leave it to fate.”

Lee is from Johor Baru but is currently based in Hong Kong.

She began her music career after gaining popularity in the reality singing competition The Voice 2 in 2010.

In 2017, her live concept album Live in the Moment topped the sales chart for four consecutive weeks and was certified gold within two months.

       > A boy in Anhui, China, caused a lift to catch fire after he urinated on its control panel, which also saw him being trapped inside, China Press reported.

CCTV footage showed that he had attempted to pry open the door of the lift while it was descending. Later, he urinated on the control panel.

His stream of urine caused the control panel to short circuit and catch fire. The lift then stopped in mid-descent.

Fortunately, a delivery rider heard the boy’s cries and contacted the authorities for help.

Building staff managed to get the door opened and rescued him.

When the video was circulated online, many Internet users chided the boy’s parents for not teaching him how to behave.

“The parents should be fined for the damage caused,” one Internet user wrote.
