THE landlady at a "haunted pub" was left open mouthed when a glass spontaneously shattered on a shelf in front of her.

Liz Allcock was chatting to a punter when the Guinness pint glass shot out of a low-down shelf and smashed into tiny shards mid-air at The Longs Arms pub in South Wraxall, Wiltshire.

The landlady insisted that nothing could have fallen onto the glass while it was stacked in a shelf next to several others.

CCTV footage taken inside the pub shows Liz holding her hands to her heart as she steps backwards in amazement.

Her husband Rob - who along with Liz has run The Longs Arms for ten years - said it was like someone flattened the glass top down.

It's not the first time the couple have had to contend with the paranormal.

Rob told Wiltshire Live: "Normally, you see things and then you look back and there's no one there.

"I'll be walking through to the kitchen, which has a door that opens both ways, and it will open as if someone is on the other side, pulling it - you get used to things like that."

One spooky encounter saw a customer praise the good behaviour of a young child sat with a couple eating their dinner.

But Rob says there was never a child there - and the couple were dining alone.

Another frequent apparition is a black and white dog.

A former-landlord called George owned a near-identical pooch, and a picture of the two hangs on the wall of the pub.

Rob added: "Growing up in pubs in Liverpool, my mum always used to tell me, don't be afraid of the ghostly things you see, be scared of the living.

"I've always kept that with me - what are they going to do? It's not a horror film, it's just what it is.

"I can't explain it, I just don't feel like they're going to harm us."
