Prince Harry and Meghan warned 'woke' strategy to backfire as 'royal glitter' needed

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's organisation Archewell needs its royal connections in order to "give them kudos as a brand", says a royal expert. Archewell will struggle to become unique and relatable to younger audiences if it doesn't have any "royal glitter" attached.

Royal author Pauline Maclaran told Us Weekly: "Harry and Meghan have escaped their [Royal Family] control, yet Harry and Meghan need their royal connections to really give them kudos as a brand.

"I think if they don't have that royal glitter as it were, around their brand, I don't think there's much that's going to make them unique.

"The woke side won't really hack it with younger audiences who already talk a little bit about whether that's superficial and whether it's really genuine."

Pauline Maclaran had previously said that the couple were trying to create a "rebel royal brand".

Archewell was founded after the couple announced their intended departure from the Royal Family and their relocation to California.

The Duke and Duchess had previously founded the organisation Sussex Royal, but under the terms and agreements of Megxit, they ceased using the term 'Royal' in any of their ventures.

Archewell is a non-profit organisation that focuses on tackling issues such as gender inequality, conservation, female empowerment, and mental health.

Since its conception, it has partnered with World Central Kitchen and has helped open four community relief centres.

The couple have also founded Archewell Audio and Archewell Productions, which formed part of a £100 million deal with Netflix and Spotify.

The deal will see the couple create podcasts and media content for the streaming giants.

In their first podcast episode, the Duke and Duchess paid tribute to frontline workers and spoke to celebrities such as Elton John and James Corden.

They are currently in the process of trademarking their brand name and entertainment enterprises.

In his recent media appearances, Prince Harry has often spoken about his current relationship with the Royal Family and his experiences of growing up as a member of the British monarchy.

Both he and Meghan have criticised both the establishment and members of the Royal Family.

In their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March, the couple revealed that Buckingham Palace had ignored their requests for mental health support and that a senior member of the Royal Family had made a racist remark about their unborn child.

The interview caused a PR crisis for Buckingham Palace and increased tensions between the couple and Harry's family.
