On July 18 at 12:00 Moscow Time (GMT+3), the Valdai Club will host a discussion on the topic “The Migration Crisis of Our Time: From A to Z”.
The world is experiencing endless conflicts, which are constantly escalating in different parts of the world. Geopolitical and power confrontations leave humanitarian consequences in the shadows, including much of what is related to the migration crisis.
The movement of large masses of people changes both the domestic and foreign policy landscape. Unauthorised migration, the surges of which are most often associated with military clashes, leads to more crime, refugees, poverty, and problems with cultural adaptation. As international relations are becoming increasingly tense, a discussion about migration management methods is necessary to maintain global stability.
Migration crises that arise around the world require a comprehensive approach and cooperation between countries to resolve them. Russia, as one of the key countries with significant political and economic resources, can play an important role in this area.
How can the migration crisis be used for the benefit of recipient countries? What factors can contribute to improving conditions for migrants and reducing migration pressure in the future? What is the role of international associations, particularly BRICS, in addressing the negative consequences of forced migration? The participants will try to answer these and other questions.
