A Waukegan man was killed and another wounded in separate, and apparently unrelated, shootings Tuesday night, according to police.
A man in his 20s was shot to death at around 8 p.m. in the 2100 block of Williamsburg Drive, Waukegan police said Wednesday. Officers responding to reports of gunfire found the man in the street with an apparent gunshot wound.
He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities have not released his identity pending the completion of an autopsy by the Lake County coroner’s office.
Police said the investigation is continuing and they have not yet determined a motive for the shooting.
In the second incident, a Waukegan man was found shot at around 9:10 p.m. in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 200 block of Julian Street. The man, who police said is in his 20s, was taken to an area hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.
Police said the incidents appear to be unrelated, and no one is in custody in connection with either.
Anyone with information about either shooting is asked to call the Waukegan police Criminal Investigations Division tip line at (847) 360-9001.
