PETALING JAYA: The Tropical Rainforest Conservation and Research Centre(TRCRC) mourns the loss of Malaysian 'tree guru' and former planter James Kingham.

Kingham passed away peacefully on Monday at his home in Tanjung Malim, Perak.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday (May 25), TRCRC said Kingham who was a Landskap Malaysia and TRCRC board member, collected millions of forest saplings on a 200-acre nursery in Tanjung Malim.

"He had a collection of over 1,000 forest tree species, including rare and endangered species listed on the IUCN Red List.

"As an experienced planter, Kingham was generous with his time and knowledge, often sharing his wisdom and expertise gained from his encounters with the local indigenous community, forest rangers and anyone with a keen interest and eager ear," it said.

It added that his nursery not only served as a home to over three million saplings, but also offered research opportunities to the academic and environmental conservation community, many of whom will mourn this loss with us.

"His dedication to tree conservation leaves a deep impact and legacy for so many.

"His passion and wisdom encouraged the establishment of Landskap Malaysia and TRCRC, touching the lives of many," it said, adding that his passing leaves a void within them all.

It hoped the seeds and trees he planted continue to green our earth and benefit many beyond his lifetime.
