DOCTORS in India removed nearly one kilogram of hair from the stomach of a 15-year-old girl after she swallowed it, Makkal Osai reported.
The teenager from Tamil Nadu state apparently developed the habit of chewing on her tresses as she was feeling restless and anxious from attending online classes at home during the pandemic.
When she started experiencing stomach pains and vomiting, the girl was rushed to a hospital where doctors discovered the tangled and hardened mass of hair in her tummy.
A team of doctors operated on the girl to remove the clump of hair that had reached the small intestine.
The doctor who led the team said this was an extreme example of Rapunzel Syndrome, which has been recorded 60 times worldwide.
